China has one of the highest female employment rates in the world, yet work-life balance topped the list of challenges facing working women with 48 percent of them citing it as the major issue at work. Women in China were among the most confident in the G20 when asked if they earned the same as men with 53 percent saying they thought they were evenly treated. World Economic Forum data shows China comes sixth among G20 nations in terms of the female to male ratio of estimate earned income.
When it came to harassment, a third of Chinese women said they had been harassed at work but only 16 percent of these said they would always or most of the time report this, more than Indonesia or South Korea or Japan but less than in India.
